I have Carpal Tunnel (if that is how it is spelled)

Well, on Thursday I had to have neurological testing for this hand thing that has been bugging me for months. I actually went to the neurologist the day before and told him that I was taking anti inflammatory pills for my wrist and he said he wanted to do test, so the next day I went in for the tests. I will tell you all right that was the weirdest test I think I have had to do in a long time. First, I had to wait for 2 hours to get it done because the doc wanted it done right away and had to double book me!
Then he had to put probes on my chunky fingers, and let me tell you that was not the worst of it. Next he sent electric shocks through my nerves to test them. No that was not the worst either! He then proceeded to poke a needle in my arm 7 times and then informs me that the said needle needs to go into my muscle 1 cm deep. Umm, ouch as he stabs this supposed tiny needle into the palm of my hand I about flew off the table. He tells me there are very small branches of nerve on my smaller muscles  and that if he hits them it will hurt. Ok, that is fine but he told me this and in the next breath after hitting the nerve, he tells me oh that is going to hurt for a couple days. Umm, thanks doc!!! Well the final diagnosis was mild to moderate carpal tunnel in the medial nerve. Yay, right?
Next week I go to the Orthopedic specialist and apparently he will make me a brace or whatever and check to make sure that is the only thing wrong. Hopefully I will get some relief from this pain, I am so seriously asking for pain killers as ibuprophen does not even touch the pain. So, that is how my week has been, but at least this neurologist wanted to run tests when my primary care doc never even tried! Oh and Happy Chunkydunky People!!!

  1. Oh sweetie, I feel for you! I had pregnancy induced carpal tunnel with my first daughter (who knew it can be pregnancy induced?!?!). I would wake up in the middle of the night crying my eyes out in pain....and I have a pretty high tolerance of pain! I hope the pain goes away for you soon, it is not a pleasant feeling.
